Note from Conversation Partners - June 2020: We originally launched this conversation series in Fall 2019, and after almost a year of bringing leaders from around the world together in amazing virtual roundtable conversations, we were actually in the process of wrapping up and producing key takeaways. Then COVID hit...and now, talking about how we transform advocacy in a digital era has become more critical than ever in the face of this pandemic. So, we’re extending this series and inviting more leaders and organizations back into this conversation, and creating a space for us to connect and have these heavy discussions as we think about what advocacy looks like in our new, hyper-digital, socially distant normal. We look forward to you joining us!

Advocacy Has Changed in the Digital Era

Decentralised technology gives everyday people the tools and platforms to lead progressive change. In the face of these changes, some organisations are rapidly scaling, while others are struggling to evolve.

How can we collectively adapt and scale up for better campaigns, stronger organisations, and bigger progressive change? Let’s discuss.

This is not a webinar or lecture. This is a conversation. It’s your chance to collaborate with the people around the world answering these questions, and hear from the thought leaders pushing organisations today.

In this 60 minute conversation, you’ll discuss:

  • The keys to saving the world in the era of social media
  • What advocacy organisations need to win today, and
  • The three barriers to organizational digital strategy

You’ll engage with content from thought leaders like Nicole Carty, Director of PowerLabs; Michael Silberman, Global Director of the Mobilisation Lab; and Brad Caldana, Founder of The Digital Plan.

Most importantly, you’ll help build a global strategy for a better world.

Join the conversation. Sign up to receive selected readings, and get paired with the leaders pushing change around the world.

No organisation, issue, or group can do it alone. Together we can strategise, adapt, and scale to create urgently needed change.

These conversations represent a bold, first-of-its-kind pilot program to engage the global social change community in a virtual discussion about how can we collectively adapt and scale up for better campaigns, stronger organisations, and bigger progressive change. We are bringing leaders from all over the globe together in small groups to contribute their voice—talking, brainstorming and collaborating—to this conversation as we aspire to build a global strategy for a better world.
Global social change leaders come together in a video/voice conversation with instructions provided within the VoiceVoice platform to address the topic: Transforming Advocacy in a Digital Era.
People like you who represent the brilliance, creativity, and diversity of the social change community will get an online invitation to join a virtual conversation, and sign up for any one of a variety of times that work in their timezone. When it‘s time to join the conversation, participants are placed into a small group with other people and instructed on how to introduce themselves and what the ground rules are via a recorded video.

Each group then hears about the context for the conversation, again via recorded video content. As each recorded content ends, the group has live discussions and navigates through a “map” of not only recorded content but also activities and the dedicated sections for any output and actions.

We leverage the VoiceVoice platform to host the conversation and aggregate the best results.
Please see the list of upcoming conversation times listed above and register for the time that works for you. If none of the listed times work for you, we encourage you to sign up for our email list for future announcements AND email us with some dates/times that may work for you. Make sure to include “Transforming Advocacy in a Digital Era” in the subject line. We’re scheduling these online meetups several times (afternoon, evening, and an occasional weekend time) in the next couple weeks and would love to have you join a conversation.
VoiceVoice is the conversation company. We previously developed MaestroConference, a virtual conferencing technology which has been used by over 8 million participants. Customers include NextDoor, Stanford University, FWD.us, Airbnb, National Science Foundation, the Atlantic, among many others.

We’re now introducing the VoiceVoice platform, to go beyond traditional conferencing software with a new technology that enables people to have great conversations, perpetually and at scale.

Yes, we are currently hosting similar conversations for Employee Training Leaders, Educational Technology Professionals, Event Leaders/Planners, Human Resources Professionals, and Social Change Leaders around the world.

Here’s a quick way to see some of the engagement we've been able to foster with these virtual roundtables. It’s a short (99 seconds) video snippet from the Social Change Leaders conversation about Transforming Advocacy in a Digital Era - with a roundtable featuring change leaders from Sierra Club, Indivisible, and London School of Economics.
Due to the speed we are launching this conversation (among others) and the number of organizations reaching out to us for help amidst this pandemic, our team is unfortunately spread very thin and may not be able to hop on a call before this conversation needs to happen. We’re happy to setup a time to chat about what we’re up to outside of these COVID conversations (please contact us here).
We are inviting Change Leaders, Activists, Grass Tops, and other Leaders and Professionals in Progressive Advocacy from around the world to contribute. We cannot say who will be in attendance on any given date, but attendees in our other roundtable conversations have included leaders from some of the world’s leading organizations, including MoveOn, SEIU, Netroots Nation, Sierra Club, Women’s March, Oxfam, Center for American Progress, Oceana, Action Network, among many others.
We designed this conversation to be an ongoing series of live group video conversations, with each new group contributing their own unique ideas and voices to the greater discussion. We will take the notes and contributions from the many group conversations and synthesize the learnings and findings into a single, powerful document to share with everyone who participated. Where the conversation goes from there, we will look to the community for your input.
You'll meet (and speak with) other professionals in small group video conversations, surface the challenges emerging from this pandemic, and share and discuss ideas (including across groups) for alternative ways of moving towards common objectives in this crisis. You will be given a series of open-ended questions for your roundtable. There will be an Agenda & Notes available - a shared, editable document where you each add in your notes. Where the conversation leads will be up to your group.
These roundtable events do not require a moderator. Unlike in webinars or video chat meetings, with VoiceVoice, there’s no live presenter or facilitator, the conversation that participants have is guided and structured using pre-recorded content that we’ve created.
This conversation is open to the public but we ask you to fully participate and bring a thought or idea to share. You are welcome (and we encourage you) to share the conversation with your networks. Feel free to share the link to the registration page: https://beta.voicevoice.com/register/transformingadvocacy

And/or if you have an interest in our other conversations, please feel free to participate fully (i.e. not just “kick the tires”) in similar conversations we’re producing for:

We suggest blocking 1.5 hrs, people often want to stay and connect afterwards with the other thought leaders.
We are hosting this timely, important conversation because it speaks to our mission as a company- to light up the world with the power of purposeful, large scale conversations that drive positive change.

We’re the technology leader in deeply interactive virtual events. With customers from Airbnb to Uber, Stanford to Berkeley, and all of the top Democratic presidential campaigns for 2020, we have proven to over 8 million participants that our platforms, MaestroConference and VoiceVoice, deliver engagement for organizations who value their geographically distributed stakeholders.

In full transparency, we’ve seen that participants on the new platform become prospective customers when/if they have a need to engage people virtually. So rather than sell the platform, we’re creating this series to generate real value in conversation with corporate training leaders and other impacted professionals.
